Lucien Grey

Picture
Well, he's finally here.  He was over a week late, but our baby boy finally came into the world on Friday April 3rd.  Our lives have not been the same since.  I've been learning to sleep in 3-4 hour increments, but I could not be more in love with this cutie.  I managed to add on two big projects right before he was born, which I'll be sharing soon.  Meanwhile, I am trying to balance working and taking care of this boy.  I have about 4 more days left with my husband before he has to go back to work.  Frightening!!

2015 Animal Calendars are in!

Picture
Picture
Redesigned my animal calendar this year, opting for one big print rather than the smaller page option.  I'm really liking seeing all of the months and animals on one page.  I also had these professionally printed with a lustre finish and linen texture to mimic the watercolor paper I was using in years past.  They are available now at my etsy shop!

Exciting News...

Picture
So I haven't posted here in a while because I haven't been feeling well for a few months.  There's a good reason for that though, my husband and I are expecting our first child in March!  We are so excited and anxiously awaiting his arrival.  I took this shot of us on a recent trip to Amelia Island for our 9th wedding anniversary.  So now that I'm feeling better, I'm hoping to be adding some new work and projects in the upcoming months.

Right now I have my deer print available at the American Express Small Business Pop-Up Shop going on now through the end of November.  It's part of Crafted Westside's booth.  I was also chosen to be a part of their look book for the event, but I have not gotten to see that myself yet.  Hopefully, more exciting things to come for the holidays!

beach bummer

Picture

Well, I was supposed to have a wonderful relaxing beach trip to Amelia Island this week, but it got cut short and made very unrelaxing when I had a very unfortunate incident with some large rusted nails and both of my feet.  I won't go into the specifics, but let's just say it is hard to enjoy the beach with swollen feet that you can't walk on.  I always seem to get hurt or sick when I go on vacation lately.  At least I got a week off work with my husband.  I finally did some painting today too.

On my way to work the other day, I passed by this area on the side of the road that was covered with Queen Anne's Lace.  So the other day I decided to go out and stop at every area I lust after on my drive and cut wildflowers from each place.  I got enough to make a lovely (free!) arrangement.  Those artichoke blossoms are prickly little buggers!  Wish I had gloves when I got those.

new series

Picture

It all started with this bottom image.  I was bored one night, and started playing around with some old ink drawings and then made a wreath out of gouache.  For some reason, I had never thought to use something to make a perfect circle instead of just freehanding it.  So I used a vase that was nearby and everything changed.  I felt like the biggest idiot for never trying it before.  So then I got inspired by this gorgeous yellow and gray vintage textile I found on pinterest a while back and created this wreath pattern.  I did the second one yesterday afternoon being inspired by another vintage textile.  So I went through etsy, google, and pinterest and found a whole slew of textiles and wallpapers to be inspired by.  Still working on my other series though.  Just finished a seahorse drawing and
